The VERTEX GP Racer Choice forged piston was developed using test bench knowledge from MX competition. Its design combines an optimized piston crown shape with design details that are aimed at an improved combustion process, a maximum permissible compression ratio and reliable function in performance-oriented engine operation.

Function and construction

• The forged aluminum piston has reinforcements to stiffen the structure. This minimizes the deformation of the piston crown under full load.
• The surface treatment reduces friction.
• The short piston pin has a chamfer with a DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating.
• The locking ring with an external nose counteracts twisting at high speeds.
• The extra-thin GNH piston ring made of gas nitrided steel supports increased wear resistance.
