The VERTEX GP Racer Choice forged piston was developed for use in performance-oriented 4T engines. Its design is based on experience from competition and combines an optimized piston crown shape with design details for efficiency and reliability.

Function and construction

• The shape of the piston crown supports an optimized flame front and the achievement of the maximum permissible compression ratio.
• The surface treatment is designed to reduce friction.
• Reinforcements stiffen the piston structure and reduce piston crown deformation under full load.
• The short piston pin has a chamfer with a DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating.
• The locking ring with a nose on the outside prevents twisting at high speeds.
• The extra-thin GNH piston ring made of gas nitrided steel increases wear resistance.
