The VERTEX GP Racer Choice forged piston was developed for the Kawasaki KX 450 (KX 450 J) in the 2019-2022 model year range. As a forged aluminum piston with racing compression, it is designed for use in the upper engine range of this model.

Function and construction

The shape and design of the piston crown supports an improved flame front and a higher compression ratio. Reinforcements increase the stability of the piston structure and limit the deformation of the piston crown. Treatment is intended to limit friction.

The piston includes a short, chamfered piston pin with DLC treatment and a safety clip with an external nose. This clip design prevents twisting at high engine speeds. The very thin GNH piston ring is made of high-strength steel.
