The VERTEX GP Racer Choice forged piston is designed for the KAWASAKI KX 450 X from 2023. Its design combines a forged aluminum piston with a piston crown shape tailored to the combustion process. The optimized shape supports an improved flame front and a higher compression ratio.

Function and construction

A special treatment limits friction. Reinforcements make the piston structure more resilient and thereby reduce deformation of the piston crown. The short, chamfered piston pin has a DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) treatment. The safety clip with external nose prevents rotation at high engine speeds.

The very thin GNH ring made of high-strength steel is tailored to the compact design of the piston. The racing piston compression aligns the component to the intended area of ​​use.
