Pistons and piston rings
The ultra-compact three-ring piston is made of a special aluminum alloy with a high silicon content and low thermal expansion. Its sliding surfaces have a tin coating. Machining is carried out on numerically controlled machine tools; the piston is weight-reduced and reinforced.
The ring set includes an I-ring compression ring made of nitrided and chrome-plated steel, a special cast ring as a second compression ring and a three-part wiper ring made of special chrome-plated steel alloy. The special rings are designed for high sliding properties and high mechanical strength.
