Gear set Z 55/40/37/36 for Vespa PX 125

The MALOSSI gear set is assigned to the Vespa PX 125 in the full year range from 1978 to 2016. With the tooth numbers Z 55, Z 40, Z 37 and Z 36, the set offers a different combination from the original for a variable gear ratio.

Design and manufacturing

The gears are made of specially hardened steel. They are manufactured on CNC hobbing machines; the contact surfaces are then ground. This means that the tooth mesh is designed for precisely machined contact areas.

Features for lubrication

• Small depressions in the contact surfaces support the transport of the oil.
• The oil guide is designed to improve and maintain lubrication between the sliding surfaces of the gears.
• Relief holes were provided for those gears where this was possible.
• There were no relief holes in the contact area between the gear and the gear selector lever so as not to cause any breakage.
